Let's Swim 05:09
Baby let's swim In the oceans in our stomachs That's where love seeps in And the heartbeats are numbered Towering black whales Swim beside us Let the love soak in And illuminate your ocean Baby let's swim For the time's too late for telling Towering black waves They carry us Now it's raining Not a speck of light is showing There's no earthly way of knowing Where they carry us So we walk Through the forests Of our childhood Let's burn our hair I'm never going back Back there... Do you want to be out of the background for a change? Do you want to be part of a powerful exchange? Everybody's crying out for change? Everybody's running away Do you want to be out of the background for a change? Do you want stop distracting yourself? Do you want to stop being someone else? Baby let's swim

Don't go diving off The diving board You might hurt yourself You might look stupid And don't go outside To protect You might look foolish You might break your bones This is the end of history But what's that, is that doubt? What's that new sound coming out? Who gave you the rights? Who gave you the wrongs? How can we not see what's going on? Do you hear the birds tweeting? Can you hear their ancient song? What the hell have we done? Let the tears roll down your cheeks Let them tears roll down for weeks We all have the need to grieve
3.
Giving In 03:36
I'll keep on singing Through the thick and thin I'll keep on hoping As you're giving in We'll keep on singing Through the thick and thin I'll keep on hoping As you're giving in I'll keep on singing Through the thick and thin I'll keep on hoping As you're giving in
4.
Sailors 04:59
Do sailors dream of dry land? Do sailors dream of dry land? Villagers of islands, Parents dream of sandy beaches And children for their iPads. Everyone is dreaming, no one understands. The Queen dreams in her tower, The King’s tucked up in bed. Staff prepare the flowers Because he’s nearly dead. She thinks she keeps us happy, She thinks she keeps us fed. Whilst another tower’s burning The planet keeps on turning, Empty frames at empty tables Feeding off of cables Watch the tower burning But who watches the watchman? A boy becomes a man We all must understand The lines across our hands And the rhythm of the band. I’m complex tonight I’m Peter Pan in Never Never Land I’m flying off with Wendy’s hand. Lock the window when we leave And throw away the key. We’ll make our lives in make believe. The sound we hear is in the East And the light it bears it casts a shadow A war is nearly here You can smell it in the air. Don’t forget tomorrow And the hope it brings Don’t forget whose fingers pointed out the facts Don’t forget the signatures of every living soul The sun it also rises, it rises in the East Destruction also brings relief. (A man reveals himself, What else?)
5.
Reborn 03:14
A dragonfly Landed on my notes And the Milky Way came to take a look Have you got your passport? And packed a good book? It’s time to fly away Take back the time they took At the gates of Heaven Their counting my grey hairs Like grains of sand, the promises I made All blew away, they flew away It’s time to say goodbye Time to say goodbye Time to say goodbye Will the same birds Change their tune In a different land? With an endless sky? Where emotions aren’t polluted by The things we wrap around inside, I want to be Reborn Reborn Reborn, let’s all be reborn Reborn Reborn Reborn, I want to be reborn Reborn Reborn Reborn, let’s all be reborn

She self-identifies as a corporate bitch How do you think she got rich? She's got a flat in Hackney Wick How did we get into this sitch? We're fighting back now, we're buying sushi And the iPhone 10 has many uses What are we to make of the news? Tell me who will win and who will lose? The people downstairs think you're liars Don't look down on them From your new London towers I'm just as guilty as you I took from them Knowing that they'd lose She said, 'I've nothing more to say' I said, 'If you feel innocent it's OK'
7.
Asparagus 05:08
She's like asparagus Al dente and tender But don't try to bend her Or she'll break She's broken crockery Thin as potpourri Least that's the way it seems to me Through my fingers Like the wind upon the lake Every wave shall break And every man will make mistakes She can tell the time Yeah that girl of mine She knows how it ends And how it begins again We're falling down from the trees We're growing up from underneath She's calling out my name We're not playing a game She's like asparagus The one I long to kiss The one I long to cook Where no one else can look And when I cannot hide She's the one in whom I confide When I'm faltering When I'm faltering (She wears a blindfold Or so I'm told With a sword and scales She chops our vegetables She calls me princess I call her priest On psychology and asparagus we feast) I buy her cardboard jewelry And she puts me to sleep We D.I.Y. ourselves We do just what we please We do just what we please But sometimes she wraps herself in cotton wool Would rather play the fool than be king It's a man's world She's swollen from her father's sting Oh no!

God come save me Devil destroy Human don't push me Back to the void God come save me Devil destroy Human don't push me Back to the void Wake up from colours and move through the greyscale to work You're a slave to this concrete bliss I keep on dropping my life and all these things Cause I have to keep expanding Pop yourself down now into the mud We're waking up into love This jailor's got my heart under lock and key Cause I'm expanding everything
9.
We sold our souls We were the Only ones who could see beauty Three years since I held your hips I forget that beauty exists It's too late To return to those days We betray Our ideals Don't push me back down I'm living freely now Caffeine And cigarettes I'm living with no regrets I'm harder now I passed the test! It's harder now to be any less Oh it's too late We betray Our ideals It's too late So give up the ghost It's too late I loved you the most It's too late

Thunder 02:32
Is it cause we're right? Or is it cause they're wrong? The rain won't hold for too long, no. Can you hear the sound of...? Have we spent our lives Chasing our tail? We can't go on for ever, no. No we can't go on for... Is it cause we're right? Or is it cause they're wrong? The rain won't hold for too long, no. Can you hear the sound of thunder?

Netflix And box sets And teabags And the homeless In the end We'll forget It's like almonds In my cereal It's like worshipping The material In the end I can't pretend We are criminals In our own heads We are grandfathers In our own beds We just sit around And talk And we tick And we tock Click begin, type your password That's how we make love Sliding down kaleidoscopes Is now defunct Cut your hair And buy new clothes! Spend your money! Watch the news And fall asleep And dream... And in your dreams Your tears are like a child's Your childhood fears Will play like a cassette Now it's the morning And you look at me I look at emails Look at pixels Look at anything Just to still my heart In this city That rewards Just the worst Things It creeps us out And into coins It turns us in So you want beauty But you want WiFi Connectivity You want sunshine In the end What's the value of something? So weave your cotton thread Turn on an engine Bask in starlight Breathe in oxygen Spray your farmyard With pesticide Build a spaceship And step inside You want the universe Can you feel the Earth Spin?

Mono Lake 06:54
You can see it in his eyes The world is second best The fire came down the mountain On to some place else Eastern Sierra Down the Mono Lake The fire came down the mountain And Old Tom's eyes see that it's too late You can see it in his eyes The skies above him changes Growing old in California Where the desert meets the rain Eastern Sierra Down the Mono Lake We try to blame it on the weatherman But Old Tom's eyes see that it's too late Even the old timers Make spelling mistakes And there's no mistaking What's at stake The spell that we're under Wants us to look away
14.
We're running out of time The age-old lie Tell that to my dead ancestors Tell that to the redstarts Tell that to the mushroom We are headed for death All the more reasons to live We may be done All the more reasons to love All the reasons Oh we're so full of anxiousness But the rain keeps pouring down And the storms keep swirling round Oh I'm so full of ideas I've been full for years I've been foolish What are we waiting for? There's no knocking at the door And anyway, the West can't last Like us all, we must make the past the past O Grandmother! Who's sitting by the fire Conspiring our finest hour Climate change won't change life and death It just changes all the rest We must gather courage Move the jumpers That act goalposts It isn't anybody's fault It is everybody's fate The fact that we are too late There's poison in my wine And there's poison inside It is pointless picking sides We don't know how we'll die But it's worth thinking it through... What a travesty! To let the Earth bleed But it still hurts And it still hurts All my life I was full of peace But I didn't notice So all my life I'm pillar to post Trying to be God But I became a ghost We are all one God We are all one child I am all the apple I eat We are soon to be dead Oh the meaning of life is in an ice cream It's a builder smoking It's the ants building their nest it's a civil servant It's a journalist on an overnight It's a nightingale, it is the night It's making love in the afternoon It is dealing with bad news It's dismantling the fence It is not making sense If you want the truth Make a joke :)

about

Jon Wiltshire's debut album, co-produced with Tom of England (L.I.E.S), recorded and mixed in Berlin and Bristol.

Dreamy, cosmic, lyrical folk-ambience, with 808 kicks, Spanish guitars, a lot of life and a lot of death. This is an exploration of childhood, our broken relationship with nature, and our broken relationship with ourselves. The backdrop being the crisis of soul that envelopes us all.

Some songs date back more than a decade, some are from dreams, from office jobs. It was written all over the place - London, Brussels, Crawley - but recorded, mixed and sat on in Berlin and Bristol. Tom of England helped carve it out more, and it owes a debt of gratitude to Matteo/Pavlov and Sebastian/Butterama in Berlin for some recordings and getting things started.

Another special debt of gratitude goes to Marcus Henriksson, without whom the album would never have been born.

And yet another to my partner, Daryl Hooper (www.darylhooper.co.uk), who also made the marbled artwork and has taken a lot of photos of me over the years.

It's taken three years to be plucky enough to release this. I hope it helps you dream, dance, cry and be joyous for Life. Follow your dreams, follow your longing!
